Currently, the so-called Redding Mile is completely off-road and features a 10 ft wide, accessible stone dust surface. The trail is clearly marked by NRVT signs.
This section is a little less than a mile long and takes advantage of an old wood road. The trail user will see old stone walls as the path meanders through the forest in easy undulating curves and slopes and a nice inventory of native trees. The Redding Mile is planned to connect to the Ridgefield Ramble at Bobby's Court. Construction of the Ridgefield Ramble is planned for 2025/26.
Once completed, with extensions planned to the north (Danbury) and south (Ridgefield), the Redding section will comprise 5 miles of the NRVT.
The NRVT team always needs and welcomes volunteers to pitch in on a wide variety of activities, from the sweaty to the sedentary. Join us in making a difference!
There is a small parking lot on Picketts Ridge Road (near #32 ). From Rt.7, turn east at the Golf Performance Center onto Great Pond Road towards Martin Park Beach, then turn left on Picketts Ridge Road. Just after Farm Ridge Court, the trailhead for the Redding Mile will be on your right.
