The Blue Trail reveals beautiful New England scenic vistas and crosses multiple small wetlands. Close by is a historic cement kiln and hand dug quarry holes dating to 1847. Below this ridge is the Shepherd Family Farm which has been farming for over 100 years.
The trail comes to an old spring road and proceeds straight across the road, up to the top of the ridge and head west under the power lines and meet Dillon Road.
Hikers interested in continuing to the falls in Sperry Park can cross historic Dillon Road and enter into the Regional Water Authority (RWA) Property (0.9 miles). However, this will require a permit from the RWA. These 4 acres of delightful woods and glen contain paths along the Sargent River.
Alternatively, hikers without RWA permit can walk west on Dillon Road to Sperry Road, and follow Sperry Road into the park (1.1 miles).
The trail can be accessed from across from the Darling House Museum, 1907 Litchfield Turnpike/Route 69, about 1.5 miles north of Route 15.
Parking is available in a gravel parking lot (10 cars) adjacent to Darling House. Trail begins across the street on gravel driveway to barns. No parking is allowed on the west side of the street.
