The John H. Weigold Conservation Area is a 33-acre parcel that was purchased in 2002 with assistance from a CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection grant. The old mill pond is now a swamp with a brook running through it and its old dam is located by the side of the road. The pond dam and spillway have been restored by the Boy Scouts. Connecting on the west is the 82-acre Tobiassen Memorial Forest owned by Joshua’s Trust. Connecting to the north is the Auperin Conservation Area which contains the red trail that is part of this post.
Notify the Conservation Commission if you see any violations.
From the north, take I-84 to exit 68. Go north on 195 and then and turn left on Cider Mill Road. Keep left to stay in Cider Mill Road until you come to Anderson Road. After a short left turn, take another right onto Weigold Road. Follow Weigold Road, and the park will be to the right.
