Sparkle Lake Conservation Area was purchased by the Town in 2013 with funds from the State Open Space and Watershed Land Acquisition Program and from the fees required by the Planning Commission as part of subdivision approvals.
A half-mile trail leaves the parking area and travels north along Birch Plain Creek. It passes by the southern shore of Sparkle Lake and leads back to the parking lot. Another spur extends into the wooded area north of Sparkle Lake.
The trails at Sparkle Lake Conservation Area are a little rough; look for blue markers.
Access this trail from Thomas Road, about halfway between Route 649 and Shennecossett Road; grass/sand parking lot for about 12 cars.
