The trail passes through a new city park, Platt Park, that includes picnic areas, a kayak launch, bathrooms, a nature trail, and amphitheater. Access to kayak launch and nature trail is by staircase and gravel path.
This trail segment is part of the larger Naugatuck River Greenway Trail that will one day connect 11 communities along the Naugatuck River from Torrington to Derby. Waterbury is currently designing and has funding to construct the next section that will bring the trail to West Main Street and into downtown. Parking and amenities are available at Platt Park, located on South Main Street near the intersection of Platts Mill Road, approximately 1/3 mile north of Exit 29 off of Route 8.
