From the trail head on Evans Hill Road, the Herrick trail rises gently for one and a quarter miles. Along this strait of way are two view points with views of the Housatonic River Valley. The northern tip of this trail has an extension to the Appalachian Trail. A smaller, lolly-pop style loop extends the hike and returns to the main path. This trail has a few spots with rocks and may be wet depending on the weather. Please be respectful to nearby private property.
The one-way hike from the trailhead to the Appalachian Trail is about 1.2 miles; taking the loop back and including the spurs to the scenic views extends the full length of this trail to 2.4 miles.
From Route 55 in Sherman, turn onto Evans Hill Road. Travel 0.2 mile to the trail head. Parking is on the side of the road and marked.
