Sleeping Giant State Park has over 32 miles of trails ranging from easy to advanced with lookout towers and picnic areas. This is also inclusive of 5 miles of the blue-blazed Connecticut Forest and Park Association managed Quinnipiac Trail.
The Sleeping Giant Park Association website includes more information on the history of the park, characteristics of different trails, and much more.
Two miles of mountaintop resembling a large man lying in repose, the "sleeping giant", is a popular feature of the south-central Connecticut skyline. A 1.5 mile scenic trail leads to the stone observation tower on the peak of Mt. Carmel which provides an excellent view of Long Island Sound and the New Haven area. In 1924 Sleeping Giant was designated as a state park. Check out the guide to the geology of Sleeping Giant State Park for more information.
The park includes accessible parking and picnic tables. There is a large picnic pavilion that can be reserved.
