The Ansonia Riverwalk straddles the Naugatuck River adjacent to downtown Ansonia. Built atop flood control levees, the paved multi-use trail on the west side of the river runs just under a mile beginning at Pershing Drive, crossing over the Waterbury Branch Metro North Rail, and ending at a park including a gazebo at Division Street.
On the east side of the river, the trail extends approximately a half-mile on top of the levee from adjacent to the Target parking lot, south to Main Street. Here, there is a scenic lookout and benches.
The two sections of this multi-use trail are connected with sidewalks along Pershing Drive, Bridge Street, West Main Street and Main Street to the north, and Main Street and Division Street to the South, creating an approximately two-mile loop.
The Ansonia Riverwalk connects to the Derby Greenway at Division Street, and is part of the larger Naugatuck River Greenway (NRG) Trail that will one day connect 11 communities along the Naugatuck River from Torrington to Derby. Visit the NRG Website for more information.
